Pre-Conference Workshop: 22 November | Park Inn by Radisson Newlands & Southern Sun Newlands
Conference: 23 - 25 November | Baxter Theatre, Park Inn by Radisson Newlands & Southern Sun Newlands
The conference will take place at the start of the summer season, which is a great time to visit Cape Town. For the second year in a row, Cape Town has been announced as the world’s best city by the UK Telegraph Travel Awards, beating Venice and Vancouver to the number one spot. Cape Town was the World Design Capital for 2014.
Anyone who has visited ‘The Mother City’ of South Africa will attest to the fact that Cape Town is simply amazing. Situated at the foot of the iconic 1000 m high Table Mountain – one of the seven natural wonders of the world – and guarding the ancient sea route around the Cape of Good Hope at the foot of Africa, Cape Town is the gateway to southern Africa. It is both the provincial capital of the Western Cape Province as well as the legislative capital of the Republic of South Africa. The current population of Cape Town is approximately 3.7 million and is a cosmopolitan mixture of ethnic groups originating from all over Africa, Europe and Asia (mainly Indonesia). It is a major tourist destination with six of most visited sites in Africa including: Table Mountain, Robben Island (where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for many years), Cape Point (marking the south-westerly tip of Africa), Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens (widely regarded as one of the finest botanical gardens in the world), the Cape Winelands (renowned for producing award-winning wines) and – the proposed venue of the conference – the magnificently re-developed Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. Other advantages include that it is in the same time zone as much of Europe (GMT + 2 hours) and there are more than 10 direct flights between Cape Town and Europe and the Middle East every day. Delegates from other destinations can easily route through Johannesburg. There are some 60 return flights per day between Johannesburg and Cape Town; it is one of the top 10 busiest air routes in the world.
Numerous tourist attractions in Cape Town include:

We hope to arrange some tours for conference delegates to enable visitors to the city to experience the spectacular scenery and social diversity.
Safety and Security
